Keya Paha County Schools 2020-2021 School Opening Guidelines
School will begin August 12, 2020. All grades will have normal school days with students and staff in attendance in our school buildings.
Entering/Inside School Building
• Visitors and vendors will be limited and will need prior approval to enter
any portion of the building.
• Hand Sanitizer will be available at all entrances for students, staff, and
visitors to use as they enter the building.
• Students, staff, and visitors may choose to wear a mask but wearing a mask is not required.
• Preventing the spread of COVID-19 will be taught and signage will be
posted throughout the building.
• 7-12 classroom common surfaces will be sanitized between classes when
possible and after school.
• K-6 classroom common surfaces will be sanitized periodically throughout
the school day and after school.
• Rest room common surfaces will be sanitized twice a day.
• Locker room common surfaces will be sanitized twice a day.
• When possible, there will be physical distancing but schools are not able to guarantee that physical distancing can be met in all school settings.
Lunch
• There will be no self-serve salad bar until further notice.
• Hand sanitizer will be available to students prior to students being served.
• One staff member will enter all point of sales on the keypad (students will
not enter their number).
What will happen if we have a student or staff member diagnosed with COVID-19
• The district will follow NCDHD required guidelines and protocol.
Potential Exposure
• The district will follow NCDHD required guidelines and protocol.
Sick Student
• We ask parents to keep your daughter or son home if they are not feeling
well. Any student getting sick at school or has a temperature of 100.4 or higher, will have parents called to take the student home.
Activities/Athletics
• We will follow the Nebraska State Activities Association (NSAA)
guidelines,

• Please be aware that these required guidelines can change quickly based on the NCDHD guidelines for schools. We will do our best to keep students, staff, parents and the community informed of any changes to these guidelines.
